This is a unique position: You will not only be highly involved in the technical direction of the company, but you will also have the opportunity to build a small group of Rails developers who will work alongside you. You are getting in on the ground floor of a promising start-up that already has a dedicated and enthusiastic business team, an incredible Beta site, and a solid budget funded by a group of prominent angel investors.

Core Requirements:
• 3-4 years’ experience with web development in Ruby on Rails, Python / Django, PHP / Symfony
• Experience with agile development and test-driven / behavior-driven development
• Experience with web 2.0 and Ajax. You must have a high level of sensitivity to front-end requirements
• You are much more comfortable in the open-source software world than in the banking/enterprise software world
• Comfortable with semantic XHTML and CSS
• Other technologies: MySQL, SVN
• Keen familiarity with both e-commerce and social networking.
• Interested in the service buying and selling experience and community
• You can and will put yourself in the shoes of your end user.
• You stay up all night thinking about improving your product’s feature set
• You love working in a small, team-focused environment
• You’re comfortable being wrong sometimes
• You’re personable with very good communication skills
• You have a pragmatic, realistic, and practical business mind
• You have a whimsical, lateral, creative product-development mind
• You live in New York City
Preferred qualities:
• 1+ year of production Ruby on Rails development experience, including deployment with Mongrel
• Comfort with relational database design
• Familiarity with: Capistrano, Rake, RubyGems, RSpec, Selenium
Responsibilities:
• Continuous feature development and improvement through short, iterative development cycles
• Interface and collaborate with external development team
• Help build our internal development team and manage hand-off of responsibilities from external team to internal team
• Provide production support
• Manage deployments
