We are a privately owned company, founded by a couple past successful entrepreneurs, that’s introducing a new web service to simplify both the lives of the volunteers and coordinators in local schools and other community groups, as well as the lives of the parents with children involved in these schools and groups.
Through limited school deployments the service has proven to dramatically reduce the tedium and grunt work associated with coordination, registration, payments, and volunteering for the group activities, while also providing parents with an aggregated view of their family’s activities. In parallel, we facilitate a local ecosystem that connects local families, schools, and groups with merchants for mutual benefit.
As we mature and scale our solution, we are looking for a new team member who readily embraces new web and coding technologies, has a passion for solving real user problems, strives for excellence, and can collaborate effectively with our existing, small development team. The newest team member will not only bring experience in coding for web-based services, but also have a strong background in structured software development practices.
In particular, we are looking for a candidate with:
• a BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
• a minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience.
• demonstrable web-based projects developed in the past 2-3 years based on Python.
• experience with Linux/Unix-based development environment.

• proven ability to deliver high-quality software on schedule.
In addition, experience with the following are strong pluses:
• Zope or Plone content management system.
• test-based development practices.
• web services that scale to 100’s of thousands of users or more.
• friendly UI design, and Javascript, AJAX and/or CSS programming
• component-based programming.
• experience contributing to an open source development community.
The candidate must be able to supply references who can attest to this experience as well as a proven track record as a strong team player.
The candidate must be willing to commute to work side-by-side with us as needed in the Los Altos, CA area. However, the candidate must also be sufficiently self-motivated and disciplined to work productively from home at other times. This is a full-time position with benefits and a 401(k) plan. THOSE INTERESTED ONLY IN A CONSULTING POSITION SHOULD NOT APPLY.
If you meet these qualifications, and are willing to commit yourself 100% and match our passion for building an awesome web service for families and community volunteers, we’d love to hear from you! Please send your resume and web development portfolio/examples to jobs@thegroupery.com.
