The Univex Group is searching far and wide for the right person to join our very tight-knit development team. If you are a student who wants to exercise your talent this summer, able to work at Univex HQ in Melbourne’s east, and looking for a place to call home upon graduation, then you are reading the right job ad!
Our values are to have fun, and make money, in that order. We say what we mean and we mean what we say. This is a small company that makes a big impact on our customers, both in Australia and abroad. You will be rewarded with all the usual perks such as free food and drink, but the biggest reward will be to see your program in action, out in the field, where customers squeal with delight. Yes, business management software *can* be exciting!
Depending on your interests and abilities, you might get to work on a new Linux desktop application we are developing. Alternatively your skills might better be employed in our suite of Windows applications. Either way you will be learning much more about developing software and the wider world of business than you would in some dark corner of a large corporation. We want you to continue working alongside your studies, even if its only a few hours per week. Our wish is to see you graduate with flying colours and join our team permanently.
Qualifications and requirements? We don’t believe in tick lists of technologies you need to know. If you are truly passionate about programming you will be able to pick up the technologies and tools we use in a short period of time.
We may not score 12 on the Joel test yet, but with your help we will get there. Oh, and our website is a classic case of the cobbler’s shoes, so please don’t be too put off by the cheesy design. Rest assured a new site is in development and very close to being released.
P.S. You must be at least an Australian permanent resident to be considered for this position. Things aren’t going to work out if you intend to telecommute.

Email a cover letter and resume. A summary of your tertiary academic results would be nice. Sample code is ideal, but not essential.
