Panjiva is a venture-backed startup, founded by MIT and Harvard grads. We are in the early stages of building a small technology team in Cambridge, MA. This team will have fun tackling incredibly complex problems. Through our efforts, we will transform global trade.
Our technical challenges are numerous: processing large amounts of messy data, leveraging machine learning and NLP techniques to make sense of the data, and making our findings available to customers via intuitive user interfaces.
We are looking for a superstar software engineer who can build scalable web applications. You must have significant experience with full-stack web application development, both server-side and client-side.
Further requirements:
- Experience building a database-backed web application that scaled to thousands of users
- Track record of solving performance bottlenecks both in the back-end and front-end
- Solid knowledge of relational databases and Linux
- Exceptionally strong programming skills in a dynamic language (e.g., Python, Ruby)
- Extensive experience with modern web frameworks (e.g., Rails) and client-side technologies (JavaScript, CSS)
- BS in Computer Science (MS or PhD is a plus)
- Bonus points for expertise in, and passion for, information access and visualization (Tufte fans would feel welcome here)
- IMPORTANT: you must be extremely hard-working and have the motivation and energy to work in an intense and constantly-changing startup environment
