New York University seeks a Programmer/Analyst to join the Digital Library Technology Services department as an Interface Designer.

In this role the successful candidate will design and develop web interfaces for digital collections, academically-oriented social networking applications, and other tools for the production, distribution, and consumption of digital scholarly materials.

The ideal candidate will also work closely with back-end programmers, functional requirements writers, project managers, web designers, and graphic designers.

Candidates must have a strong background designing user interfaces for both web sites and web applications, and will meet the requirements below.

  • Recent experience with Web 2.0 interface technologies, namely AJAX.
  • Detailed current knowledge of user interface and usability design concepts.
  • Complete competency with HTML, CSS and Javascript.
  • Graphic design skills.
  • Some experience with search engine optimization.
  • Some experience developing and deploying web applications using technologies such as Java/JSP, Perl CGI, Ruby on Rails.
  • Experience working in a Unix / Linux web development environment.
  • Experience with XML and XSLT.
