We are looking for a creative, driven, Network Engineer to aid in the design, implementation, and maintenance of the Facebook corporate IT network. In this role, you will also have the opportunity to participate in the re-architecture of core structures and interface technology to build an innovative Web 2.5/3.0 user experience around the globe. We are looking for a Network Engineer who not only builds sophisticated network environments, but also possesses an entrepreneurial spirit that helps us determine what to build up through the UI layer.
This position will provide support to and work closely with our Engineering Department. Ongoing support is anticipated to be 15 hrs/wk; special projects may require additional hours as your schedule permits. The Network Engineer will be part of Piczo’s Operations Team in providing 24×7 production support and coordinate incident response and resolution efforts. Additionally, this position will require a humble, service-minded person who is able to work well with others at all experience levels and able to architect solutions based on requirements from engineering and product development.
Responsibilities:
• Support IT networking infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and routing protocols
• Support scalable network designs to insure standard best practices
• Maintain thorough documentation including and network diagrams and change logs
• Provide 24/7 support during on-call rotation
Required Skills and Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years hands on network design, implementation, maintenance and support
• Extensive knowledge of routing (knowledge of caching servers like Akami) and switching (ideally with Cisco and Force 10 equipment)
• Knowledge of firewall configuration and management
• Knowledge of wireless technologies
• Knowledge of VPN (remote access and tunnel) technology
• Knowledge of DNS & DHCP
• Experience with load balancers a plus
• Experience with network management protocols and monitoring tools, including in-depth experience with OSPF and BGP
• Excellent communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills
