QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Minimum 2 years experience using: Java, JSP/Struts, PHP, Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat, Linux/UNIX, Oracle, XML Web Services, HTML/XHTML/JavaScript/CSS, MySQL
- Minimum 2 years of AJAX development experience.
- Minimum 2 years using AJAX and available Web Servers to create "mashup" products
- Minimum 6 years general programming experience and proficiency in at least one object-oriented or object-based programming language.
- Minimum 5 years experience with CSS and HTML.
- Proven ability to create complex, table-less layouts implemented using CSS that work across browsers (IE 6+, Firefox 1.5+, and Safari 2+).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This individual will report to VP, Development and works closely with other development staff that is responsible for facilitating development of projects across various sites within iVillage, working as part of a coordinated development effort with communications across groups, both with immediate team members and shared resources across NBC, and creating and supporting the Web-based application elements used in all pages and applications on various iVillage properties.
- Designs, develops, and implements Web-based applications to support business requirements.
- Follows approved life cycle methodologies, creates design documents, and performs program coding and testing.
- Resolves technical issues through debugging, research, and investigation.
- Participates in various phases of software development life cycle, including specifications, development, delivery, and bug fixes.
- Fixes bugs, correct usability issues, and add enhancements (planned and customer-paid customizations) to existing product.
- Writes and works on Java and/or PHP code for an interactive media platform.
- Works with various project and open source development tools, including, but not limited to Eclipse, Bugzilla, MediaWiki, Subversion, and Basecamp.
- Assists in development of rich AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript + XML) Web-based application using JSP, PHP, Struts, XML Web Services, and Dynamic HTML/XHTML (JavaScript and CSS).
- Develops and works with Oracle and MySQL database queries as used by the application.

- Working knowledge of XML and XSLT a plus. Experience implementing elegant XSL template structures to render complex designs is a plus.
- Experience working in a project-driven web development environment.
