We are looking for an experienced MySQL Database Administrator to manage our production, development and staging environments. In this role, you will also have the opportunity to re-architect core structures and interface technology to build an innovative Web 2.5/3.0 user experience around the globe. We are looking for a Senior DBA who not only builds sophisticated data storage environments, but also possesses an entrepreneurial spirit that helps us determine what to build up through the UI layer.
This position will provide support to and work closely with our Engineering Department. Ongoing support is anticipated to be 15-20 hrs/wk; special projects will require 40+ hrs/wk as your schedule permits. The MySQL DBA will be part of Piczo’s Operations Team in providing 24×7 production support and coordinate incident response and resolution efforts. Additionally, this position will require a humble, service-minded person who is able to work well with others at all experience levels and able to architect solutions based on requirements from engineering and product development.
Responsibilities:
• Architect, implement, and maintain a MySQL database solution that will expand with our business.
• Maintain the configuration and health of several MySQL databases.
• Implement a verifiable disaster recovery solution.
• Provide support and guidance to Engineering regarding database interactions.
• Develop a thorough database health monitor for both master and slave database.
Required Skills and Experience:
• 5 years of Database Administration experience.
• Knowledge of MySQL database design and tuning procedures.
• Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
• Familiarity with MySQL implementation on Linux.
• Proficiency in scripting languages.
