Transcurity, LLC is looking for an experienced software developer to create an application to run on a PDA device that will support integration and communication with our automotive on-board safety system product. The PDA application will provide a vehicle driver interface and interaction capability for the safety system. This is an opportunity to analyze, specify, and develop a PDA application from the ground up based on requirements and interaction with a team of highly capable transportation safety professionals.
Specific job tasks include the following:
• Conduct an analysis to identify an optimal initial target hardware and software platform for a PDA device that will support our application’s unique requirements.
• Develop a communications protocol that will support real time communications between the PDA and our automotive on-board safety system in vehicles while operating on the road.
• Develop a user interface application to run on the PDA that will support real time interaction between drivers and the on-board safety system including data input and information display based on specifications from our transportation safety engineers.
• Develop a method of automatically updating PDA application software in the field.
• Ongoing product support and feature enhancement.
Basic qualifications:
• 3-5 years application development experience with object oriented programming tools like Java, C/C++
• 1-2 years experience in developing applications for PDA or wireless handheld devices
• A BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
Preferred qualifications:
• Proven track record of developing production level PDA applications
• Previous experience interfacing PDA devices to embedded systems
• User interface programming experience
• Strong ability to self-direct and manage project communication and cross-group collaboration skills
• Experience working in a startup business environment
