We’re a professional services company serving some of the most recognizable names in the Fortune 1000, building specialized, dynamic custom web sites. We’ve got a full slate of programmers, but we need a great web designer to bring it all together.
We’d like to bring someone on who:
- Has a solid, modern design sense
- Is attuned to current trends in design, from corporate through funky and everything in between
- Understands usability issues and how to address them
- Can work comfortably alongside coders
- Is able to flex his or her design style to a client’s needs
- Can work within the limits of corporate style guides when necessary
- Is able to hear constructive criticism and feedback with having a meltdown
Before you apply, make sure you:
- Have an online portfolio (if you don’t, you won’t even be considered)
- Are well-versed in using CSS and XHTML to create attractive sites
- Can create fluid, CSS layouts without relying on tables or other last-century techniques
- Have a command of Photoshop and Illustrator
- Are aware of the most prevalent cross-browser issues and how to code for them
- Could code in Notepad if necessary
- Can make basic DOM manipulations in script, with either your own code or a Prototype-like library
- Can follow a wireframe document
- Can do basic Flash work (animation and limited interactivity, not game programming)
