LexBlog is looking for an IT Director/Systems Engineer to join our leadership team in Seattle.
You’ll be heading up all things IT. You’ll direct feature definition as well as the implementation of our products, and participate in company ownership.
LexBlog is a small profitable company in its 5th year with the makings of a legal publishing powerhouse in the new media space. Adding 20 new law blogs a month, we’re running over 350 law blogs across the country, as well as internationally, with over 850 lawyer authors. Plus LexBlog is soon launching LexMonitor, a daily review of law blogs and journals pulling in content from almost 2,000 sources and 5,000 authors.
Job Requirements
- Experience prototyping, building, and maintaining High Availability / Load Balanced LAMP server environments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Movable Type, including: MT Template Language, MT Plugin Development, & Maintaining a large MT deployment.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented software development.
- 2+ years Perl experience.
- 2+ years Ruby On Rails experience.
- 1+ years Javascript experience.
- Experience deploying web applications using Capistrano.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Linux.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Mac OS X.
- Comprehensive knowledge of XHTML.
- Familiarity with RSS and / or Atom.
- Familiarity with basic SEO concepts.

- Oversee all things technological at LexBlog.
- Monitor (24/7/365) and grow the LexBlog Hosting Environment to ensure optimum performance.
- Monitor (24/7/365) LexMonitor, a blog aggregation medium, to ensure optimum performance.
- Plan, develop, and deploy iterative improvements to the LexBlog Publishing Platform and LexMonitor.
- Prototype, develop, and deploy new features across all LexBlog blogs.
- Oversee all IT issues during the development, launch, and life of new blogs.
- Assist client services with all IT-related support inquiries.
