Lead/Principal Software Engineer
EzRez permits any business to easily package and sell air, hotel, rental car, vacation activities, and other travel components to their customers online through their own branded or corporate Web sites. Founded in 2003, EzRez works with some of the biggest travel brands, such as Starwood Hotels and Jet Blue, to power online travel booking systems that can offer uniquely tailored travel products based on the audience, event or business need.
EzRez’s next generation travel infrastructure is breaking down the barriers of traditional travel sites, such as the online travel agencies, by allowing companies to launch customized and branded travel sites quickly. By understanding the unique challenges of selling travel online, EzRez enables companies to merchandise travel on a more granular basis than ever before and thereby lowers costs, improves efficiency and increases customer satisfaction.
What you’ll be doing:
You will be part of a fun, fast-paced and highly collaborative engineering team leveraging agile methodologies to deliver new functionality in very short incremental iterations. You should expect to lead us to implement cutting-edge technologies including a full open source stack, dependency injection (DI) frameworks, ORM, distributed grid-based caching and the latest UI technologies. We’re also currently using best-of-breed extreme programming (XP) techniques including test driven development, pair programming, continuous refactoring and continuous integration.

• Ability to look into a system design/implementation and recommend improvements in areas such as flexibility, maintainability, scalability and performance.
• Results oriented, proactive, with excellent leadership ability
• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
• A good sense of humor and ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment
• Experience with agile software development and ability or willingness to coach others
• Super-strong Java skills with a deep understanding of object-oriented design, including fluency in applying design patterns
• Experience with open source framework/libraries/tools including Spring, Hibernate, Quartz, Struts2, Freemarker, Tomcat, JBoss, subversion, and maven
• Experience delivering highly available enterprise systems using load balancing, clustering and caching for performance and scalability
• Ability to uphold high code quality through units and code coverage with the entire team.
What you’ll bring extra:
• Familiarity with the travel industry or a high-transaction ecommerce web-site
• Experience with a hosted, multi-tenant application environment.
• We want to be global, so familiarity with internationalization and configurable displays is a plus.
