Viable is looking for a hardworking web programmer with great web production skills and a strong sense of clean design. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to create web applications independently, but also take direction in a team-based environment. This position requires a utility player with strong programming abilities, design skills, technical savvy, great attention to detail, and proven expertise in web development. Demonstrated portfolio of work is essential.
Description:
* Report to Creative Director and lead a team of programmers and engineers for small-scale projects
* Research, develop and maintain Viable and its affiliate websites, consistent with current corporate image and branding
* Ensure clean UI implementation, website architecture and content are designed based on best practices
* Develop advanced web applications in a UNIX/Linux environment
* Collaborate with other engineers for code reviews, infrastructure, and process enhancements
* Write PHP and SQL scripts to produce fully searchable, complex and dynamic databases
* Document forms, scripts and procedures while training staff for maintenance (content management system)
* Collaborate with both IT and Engineering teams
Qualifications:
* A minimum of 5 years of full time SQL and relational database structures using MySQL/PgSQL database
* Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science or related field) preferred
* Detailed portfolio demonstrating previous experience with database and system design concepts
* Proficiency in PHP, PERL, XHTML, XML, CSS, DOM, JavaScript
* Familiarity with source control tools such as CVS or Subversion
* Working knowledge of and experience with accessibility web standards (508 and W3C)
* Proven experience implementing best practices of search engine optimization strategies
* Must be able to demonstrate ability to build web applications from scratch to final
* Fluent in testing and troubleshooting bugs
* Knowledge of integrating multimedia online, Google APIs, UNIX, Linux and Apache
* Ability to meet tight deadlines and juggle multiple priorities independently
* Demonstrate excellent management, teamwork and interpersonal skills
