Mind Over Machines is looking for the newest member of our UX (User Experience) Team. We’re looking for someone who can inspire us, work hard with us, and crack jokes with us. The Lead Experience Designer is responsible for Design solutions from concept to completion, with attention to usability and overall user experience. Passion for web technology and innovations is an absolute MUST.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with UX Director and team members to establish the high level creative direction for the project and then use those core concepts to drive architecture and design
- Own the evolution of the design from initial documentation through testing while ensuring buy-in from key stakeholders
- Exercise strong leadership, initiative and excellent judgment based on practical experience and an expert knowledge of users and their activity-based needs
- Conceptualize, create and maintain detailed design documentation throughout the project cycle.
- Develop site and content architecture, process flow charts, grey-screen prototypes
- Evolve ideas within the group, explain core concepts in complete detail, and ensure that the design vision adapts to and survives the development process
- Demonstrate commitment to creative collaboration in a time-sensitive environment
- Work with Project Managers to bring projects in on time and on budget
- Assist in communicating the design and vision to the team and client
- Remain current on industry trends, techniques and best practices in UX, IA, Usability and SEO
- Demonstrate complete mastery, facility, and independent command of all relevant proprietary and professional development software
- Participate in discussions with clients and UX team to determine client needs, develop user scenarios and establish technical project requirements
- Manage in-house web site, including improvements, updating, etc.
- Establish a professional blog and contribute regularly
Qualifications
- Degree in Graphic Design, Multimedia Design, Visual Communication, Information Architecture, HCI or related field from an accredited design school absolutely required
- Extensive knowledge of UX principles
- Superior Photoshop and Dreamweaver skills
- Strong Illustrator and InDesign skills
- Minimum 5 years of related experience working for interactive design firms (NO advertising agencies)
- Passion for and expert knowledge of web sites, portals and web software (custom and COTS)
- Demonstrated success in leading teams to create compelling design
- Ability to productively make decisions and communicate ideas in a wide variety of aesthetic areas
- Superior communication skills, including writing ability
- Extremely creative and demonstrated ability to generate and evangelize innovative concepts, mechanics, and ideas
- Ability to clearly and patiently criticize, instruct, motivate, and foster creativity within the UX Division and the organization
