Autodesk is looking for a Junior User Interaction Designer to work with our small UI team to design useful and intuitive experiences for Autodesk websites – used globally by Autodesk product customers, resellers and its marketing and sales organizations. The role of the Junior User Interface Designer will be to develop design requirements, mock ups, and prototypes for website information architectures, user interfaces and user interactions.
The scope of the online properties includes the corporate website (with 33 regional sites in 19 languages), portal sites for registered customers and online tools for our reseller partners. To support these properties we have an enterprise-class web content management system for which you will also define new features and functionality.
The primary responsibilities of the UI Designer will be to:
Develop an understanding of Autodesk website users and create documents (i.e., personas) to communicate user behaviors, wants and needs.
Develop user interface specification documents, which typically include use cases, wireframes, conceptual models, interaction flow diagrams, navigation diagrams and information taxonomies.
Gather and synthesize requirements and input from stakeholders or teams including customers, business analysts, engineering, quality assurance, customer support, visual designers.
Contribute to, define and enforce a UI standards and style guide for Autodesk websites.
Work with usability testing specialists to define, plan and execute usability tests.
Create prototypes (high and low fidelity) for use in usability testing.
The ideal candidate for this position would have:
1-3 years in a user interface design, user interaction design, product design or information architect position for web-based applications.
Knowledge of industry standards, usability and trends in web development.
Knowledge of visual or graphic design principles.
Experience in HTML/CSS/JS/AJAX.
Knowledge of various research techniques to understand user requirements (i.e., card sorting, usability testing, and persona interviews).
Experience developing, delivering and documenting user interface designs for web-based applications.
Commitment to customer and to product quality – advocating for the users’ needs
Good writing and communication skills.
Experience with using Visio or Photoshop, experience with using InDesign is desirable.
Experience with developing prototypes (i.e., HTML or Flash)
Knowledge of localization and web accessibility standards is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree.
