IntersectNYC (www.intersectnyc.com) is looking for experienced web developers to build amazing dynamic websites using today’s most interesting and relevant technologies. Our primary business is focused around the fashion and beauty segment, supplying today’s leading artists and brands with cutting edge e-commerce web site solutions, combined with timeless and innovative graphic design. We are a fully agile shop, focusing on delivering the highest business values to our customers while reducing the impact of maintenance, meetings, and interruptions, which means you will be an integral part of designing features and products for our customers, rather than a passive victim of management or customers. Our customers are our biggest asset, not the enemy.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of an OO language (Java, Ruby, Python, etc)
  • 3+ years of Data-driven development using a modern RDBMS (MySql, Oracle, DB2, etc)
  • Experience with Test-Driven Development,
  • Experience with a scripting language (Javascript, PHP, Python, Ruby, etc)
  • Knowledge of web technologies like HTML, Javascript, XML/DOM, CSS, DHTML, AJAX
  • Familiarity with frameworks like Struts, Spring, Ruby on Rails is a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and agile development environment
  • Good taste in music, ability to cook, or headphones and knowledge of take-away ordering
  • Tolerance for sarcasm and the ability to play well with non-nerds

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with Ruby on Rails
  • Experience with WSDL and RESTful web services
  • JSON, SOAP
  • Serious Javascript
  • Nice stick-and-box whiteboard-fu
  • CS Degree

Applied competence is certainly more useful than academic knowledge, but some knowledge of CS basics like algorithms and data structures is required whether you have a degree or not. This is a temp-to-hire position.
