Information Architect at Hearst Digital Media in New York City

Hearst Digital Media is looking for a senior information architect with 5+ years information architecture and interface design experience. The information architect will work with business analysts, designers, and project managers to create new standards for a suite of content destination sites.

Responsibilities

* Gather requirements to determine target audience and objectives;
analyze user needs

* Develop detailed wireframes that incorporate the technical,
editorial, and usability aspects of web design projects

* Translate business requirements into intuitive interface solutions

* Participate in user research/usability testing (as needed or
appropriate)

* Collaborate with business analysts, design team and project managers as well as editorial staff to define new projects

* Organize and maintain a library of patterns and templates to use across our network

* Hire and manage freelance staff as needed

Job qualifications

* A portfolio of URLs, user process flows, site maps and wireframes

* Proficient in interpreting usability data, common site metrics and
statistical analysis skills

* Knowledge of user experience best practices

* Ability to ask appropriate questions and communicate effectively and persuasively to convey solutions to a broad range of stakeholders: editors, designers, developers, etc.

* Strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills

* Solid proficiency in a variety of design and prototyping tools such
as Visio, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator

* Comfortable working with tight deadlines and multiple projects

* Excellent written, oral and diagrammatic communication skills

* Understanding of the capabilities and limitations of HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash

* Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Human Computer Interaction, Design or a related field.

* Experience leading teams and/or working with freelancers or junior staff
