The position entails UI design and documentation of cross-platform desktop applications for a community of software developers deploying BREW and uiOne applications on mobile handsets. The successful candidate will engage existing customers to understand their use of the current product offerings, work with QUALCOMM engineers and product management to understand new feature requirements, and participate in the design and specification of new versions or products. He or she will be responsible for communicating with the relevant Engineering and Testing groups using Visio diagrams and detailed user interface specifications. The project requires a strong technical mind, since both BREW and uiOne are developer environments similar to Eclipse or MS Studio.
Skills/Experience:
- 5+ yrs experience.
- A professional education relevant to user research and design.
- Skill in understanding human behavioral data and characteristics.
- Fast learner. Our division is very fast-paced and places a premium on flexibility and technical knowledge.
- The ability to aggregate insights from primary research, product management, engineering and other sources into actionable design concepts and solutions
- Broad and flexible skills in interaction design
- Able to work as part of a team of user interface designers, visual designers, and engineers. We work closely with others, but ability to be self-directed is critical.
- Ability to articulate the pros and cons of designs and support choices with clear, detailed evidence and rationale for decisions. Ability to resolve trade-offs between design and implementation issues
-Excellent spoken and written English skills are a must
-High familiarity with MS Visio and MS Word, FrameMaker a plus. We use advanced documentation features and processes.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s required. Master’s optional. Specialty: Psychology, Cognitive Science, Communications, HCI, HF Engineering.
