Linux Systems Administrator
We are currently seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to provide server, infrastructure, and application support while working closely with members of the IT Operations, Interactive Development, ERP, and Support teams.
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Design, install, configure, and tune mission critical enterprise Linux servers.
• Maintain patch levels of all OS and applications on Linux systems.
• Implement, execute, maintain, document backup and recovery procedures, including approach and implementation of Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery procedures.
• Compose, edit, and maintain internal documentation.
• Compose and maintain shell scripts (KSH, BASH, TCSH, CSH, Perl, etc.) as required for system maintenance, automation, and application interoperability.
• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain applications and Open Source system technologies such as MySql, Tomcat, Apache, JBoss, Ruby on Rails, Alfresco, OpenSSH, and RSync.
• Provide 7×24 on-call contactability and handle technical emergencies with a cool head and solid troubleshooting approach.
• Act as technical lead for an experienced and highly-skilled, three-person Linux administration team.
• Act as member of IT Operations Architecture team and contribute to design, capacity planning, and implementation of enterprise infrastructure.
• Maintain the development, staging, production and lab environments.
• Manage performance analysis, capacity planning and various automation processes.
Requirements:
• A minimum of 5 years’ related experience in Linux and/or UNIX administration for senior-level position. (Will accept less experience for more junior position.)
• Broad experience in enterprise infrastructure design and support including LAN, WAN, Security, Backup, Storage (SAN attachment), Networking.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or the equivalent in training and experience.
• Setup and management of SSH, DNS, DHCP, NFS, NIS+, LDAP, SNMP, Mail Services, Rsync, Samba.
• Knowledge of UNIX network commands for network monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Experience with clustering for availability and capacity.
• Experience deploying and managing enterprise, public-facing, high traffic, transactional, multi-tier web sites (Java, J2EE, PHP, RoR, or .NET).
• Web development and programming experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with technology vendor management and collocation issues.
• Client oriented and service minded.
• Team player, collaborative personality.
• Demonstrated problem solving skills.
• Multi-tier web and application architecture experience.
• Large enterprise project implementation experience.
• Up to date on open source technology.
Preferred:
• Specific experience with Active Directory, NetBackup, Windows, VMWare, Apache Web Server, Nagios, LAMP.
• SAN and NAS knowledge. EMC Clarion experience a big plus.
• Experience with high level languages such as Java and C++
• Oracle and/or MySQL experience including SQL queries
• Knowledge of PCI compliance rules and experience mitigating PCI-related issues.
• Deployment of Endeca search application in production.
