Software Engineers develop the next-generation technologies for which we’ve become world-renowned. In addition to revolutionizing search technology, they use world-class programming skills to innovate in a number of other areas as well, including working on advanced information-retrieval algorithms, massive scalability and storage solutions, and large-scale applications that enrich the user experience. Software engineers also work extensively on networking systems, advertising systems and complex transaction systems in consumer applications. Key project areas include:

Engineering Leadership: Our Technical Leads/Managers and Engineering Managers and Directors are top-notch engineers with a strong technical background who are comfortable leading teams in a high-pressure, dynamic – and global – environment.
QA/Testing Engineers guarantee that our software works every time for every user while scaling to the highest levels. They investigate, report and track defects, as well as expand Google’s automated test suites.
Build/Release Engineers play an integral role in software development at Google, as they are responsible for implementing and executing our products’ release processes.
Technical Solution Engineers solidify strategic partnerships by making Google’s partner-facing products more useful to our partners. They extend core products, advance our networking infrastructure for partner reliability and build partner integration and partner-management web applications.
Network Engineers in Production help maintain Google’s international production network, allowing delivery of Google’s products and services to users around the world.
Hardware Engineers develop the next-generation server platforms for all our services. They are largely Linux experts and are responsible for supporting the hardware that powers Google.
