Job Opportunity: Freelance Information Architect
John Wiley & Sons, a leading professional, educational and technical publisher located in Hoboken, NJ, is seeking a top-notch Freelance Information Architect to assist a web business development team in its information design work. The Freelance IA will work in a highly collaborative team environment and take a lead in shaping and documenting the design and development of site functionality.
We offer a challenging environment and the opportunity to work on sites of varying sizes and scope targeting a range of primary audiences and business models such as ecommerce shopping sites, ad supported consumer content sites, and subscription-based education and research products. You will exercise both sides of your brain, working on a broad range of digital products that runs the gamut from chemical spectroscopy to âDogs for Dummies.â
The right candidate will possess:
o A solid portfolio of IA deliverables (including site maps, functional specifications, wireframes, competitive reviews, personas, user scenarios, and gap analyses)
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills
o A keen sense of diplomacy (e.g. ability to listen to requirements from a wide variety of stake-holders and translate them into winning design ideas)
o Analytic and strategic thinking ability
o Customer-centric worldview (including keen ability to observe user research)
o Experience with publishersâ websites, content management systems, and e-learning systems (a nice-to-have, but not required)
