We are in the Chicago-loop, and have a small, dynamic team with a high level of expertise in full life-cycle application development. We are not just straight coders; we design, create, and implement best solutions to meet business objectives and needs, implementing new and emerging technologies to support the development cycle.
The Senior Java Developer participates in application development, testing, and integration and / or migration procedures, contributing to all aspects of the software lifecycle. Position responsibilities largely concentrate on back-end tasks, building and refactoring databases and transaction engines, while collaborating with front-end developers on GUI considerations.
Technical Requirements:
1. MUST have Core Java 5 (Generics and Annotations)
2. Object Oriented Programming
3. Database Application Development experience (Oracle / MySQL)
4. Extensive use and knowledge of varied design patterns
5. SOA (service oriented architecture)
6. Dependency Injection framework experience
7. Web Application framework experience
8. Application Clustering / Architecture (scalability knowledge)
Attributes of Success:
Knowledgebase: must have a DEEP technical understanding and spends a majority of time in a coding role (Minimum of 70/30 to Maximum of 95/05 ratio)
Results Orientation: will work with cross-functional teams to help define best business practices and suggest solutions that improve processes.
Best Practices: must have demonstrated ability in suggesting best practices of various development methodologies for adaptation, as applicable and appropriate to business needs.
Initiative/Ownership: must be self-motivated, able to work in a blended agile environment, and can set task completion against time and/or unforeseen challenges.
Communication Skills: regular interaction with internal business units/teams to gather requirements for new features and products. Also gather feedback for existing features and products as to their effectiveness and improvement.
Personal leadership: must have demonstrated leadership experience in the area of project management, with proven and successful on-time deliverables.
Mentor: must enjoy being a resource for helping other team members to advance technical skills, providing guidance when needed.
Java, J2EE, Oracle, Ajax, Tomcat, JBoss, IntelliJ idea, Subversion, SQL/My SQL, Open Source/Linux, and HTML/CSS.
