Digital Pulp, an independently owned web development company in NYC, is seeking to fill two developer positions with people that have excellent programming skills in a few languages, namely Ruby and PHP. Also know Python? Great! Java or C#? Well, we don’t use those, but as long as you can sling around some great Ruby and PHP code we won’t tease you too much.
Ruby folks, we’ve been developing and deploying Rails sites for the past two years and prefer candidates with the same level of experience, but we’ll consider experienced programmers and application developers who are just getting their feet wet with Rails. We’re big fans of the Radiant CMS platform for building sites that are a content/web-app hybrid. This position would provide the opportunity to enhance and contribute to the feature set of a great CMS platform.
On the PHP side, we’ve developed and deployed a number of Drupal sites and will continue to use it for certain projects. As such, developers who have experience integrating with Drupal and developing and/or customizing Drupal modules are strongly favored. We’ve also done a few Cake mini-apps, too, but our heart lies with Rails for application development.
General developer experience that we love to see includes: database design, e-commerce integration (payment gateways, inventory systems, etc.), integration of third-party APIs / web services, documentation skills, large-scale content migration, knowledge of JavaScript and AJAX, leveraging frameworks, integrating open-source tools, comfort on the *nix command line, and a passion for open source software.
"DP" is an amazing place to work – a small team (-10 developers, with 2-4 developers per project) in a casual environment with excellent communication and respect between colleagues. We offer a strong system architecture and software engineering methodology: source control, test-driven-development, MVC and REST architecture, style/content separation, cross-project style conventions that are a joy to work with, obsessively semantic markup, accessibility, open source at every level, etc. – in other words, Geek Heaven! To fit into our team, you should be very interested in working in this environment, and enjoy both learning new skills and sharing your knowledge with you peers.
The ideal candidate possesses strong communication skills, a keen wit, sharp eyes, high standards for code excellence, and an excellent work ethic.
Our client roster contains of a nice mix of Fortune 500 companies, non-profits, educational institutions, and consumer brands.
Digital Pulp’s offices are located in the Gramercy Park neighborhood New York City, at 23rd street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues.
Local candidates only, please.
