Phreesia, a New York based startup in the Health Care Technology space, is seeking out an experienced Software Development Manager. This person will be responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the Phreesia development team and ensuring the delivery of our products is on time and complete. The development manager will work closely with product managers, architects and QA and project managers. This position will report directly to the CTO.
Phreesia develops software using the .NET framework for a suite of products which include server side web services, web portals, windows CE client software, and reporting tools. Experience with Agile processes is a must.
The responsibilities of this position are:
• manage the development of Phreesia’s product;
• work closely with architects, product managers, QA Manager and offshore project manager to deliver projects on time and in scope;
• provide leadership and management to 15 offshore developers while working efficiently and effectively with internal partners;
• promote teamwork and cooperation to achieve objectives;
• promote transition of development methodology from waterfall to Agile (scrum);
• simultaneously manage multiple small to medium scale projects of varying complexity;
• assist in monitoring the project budgets and resource utilization;
• monitor, track, and report progress to stakeholders and manage stakeholder expectations, project risks, issues and action items;
• recommend tools to enhance web site development, efficiency and performance;
• escalate all unresolved technology or personnel issues to appropriate managers;
• develop and monitor risk and contingency plans;
• manage project change control process;
• ensure quality of all project deliverables;
• determine and document project successes and lessons learned;
• participate in programs to improve Project Management and technology development or operations programs;
• improve effectiveness of the organization such as developing new processes and automating tasks.
This position requires the following skills:
• Bachelor’s degree with a technology focus or equivalent years of experience;
• 3-5 years of technology project management;
• 10 years of progressive experience in software project development;
• Hands on experience with web-based technologies along with experience in leading technical projects and cross-functional technology teams;
• experience in HealthCare IT is a major plus;
• strong SDLC experience, best practices for design, development and unit testing using Agile Methodologies;
• strong communication skills with proven ability to manage up, down and across an organization;
• exceptional project management skills, as well as technical skills;
• hands-on experience working with modern development technologies;
• action oriented, capable of working on concurrent complex technology projects;.
• experience with SharePoint Wikis, Issue Tracking tools (JIRA), and Rally (www.rallydev.com) is a plus;
• strong management skills and a track record of managing a distributed development team of 15 to 20 programmers in a web and Microsoft SQL environment ;
• Knowledge and experience with website design, relational database design, Microsoft .NET and related technologies, C#, HTML, and JavaScript, Windows CE.
