Development Manager at Insync Surveys (Melbourne, Australia)

- CBD based Software Development Project Manager
- $90k - $100k package
- Report directly to the CEO, be part of the Executive Leadership Team

The Role
Leading a team of five, you will define and articulate the vision and strategy for developing a new, high quality, agile platform for our survey products. This will support our aggressive growth plans by giving us the best suite of survey and reporting tools in the Asia Pacific region; encompassing multilingual online, paper and telephone surveys, live graphical and printable reports, statistical analysis, innovative user interfaces and a massive database of responses. This three year project has a budget of around $1m.

Your first, challenging goal is to define and present a compelling development strategy to the Board of Directors prior to June 30, 2008.

Once the strategy is approved, you will champion the Dev team among your fellow execs, report directly to the CEO on the progress of the program, and managing the relationship between the development team and the rest of the business.

This is your chance to own a major new project, allowing you to contribute to the choice of tools and technologies, the design of our systems architecture and our work procedures.

The Person
We are seeking candidates who have experience in IT project management together with a background in business analysis or programming, who have previously led super smart people and created a satisfying, cohesive and energized work environment.

You must be an outcome focused project manager who is able to align IT strategy with the business strategy. An accomplished communicator, you are able to build relationships within the business and influence others. Your project management expertise and software development know-how will enable you to monitor the progress of the project and implement a quality “agile software development” methodology including: version control, unit tests, bug tracking, code reviews, standards compliance — whatever deemed necessary to consistently produce good software. Your leadership skills will enable you to coach and develop your team to reach their full potential.

C#, ASP.Net and experience in a wide range of development tools and environments will be well regarded.

The Company
Insync Surveys is a very successful, medium sized stakeholder survey company with a proud history and well over 700,000 survey respondents in our databases. We work with some of Australia’s top companies, Universities, Govt Departments and Charities. We help to improve the performance of organisations and the lives of their people by providing them with useful information from a range of stakeholder perspectives.

At Insync Surveys, culture fit is crucial. We source positive thinkers who will always act with honesty and integrity, and treat everyone with fairness and respect. If you don’t fit our culture then you probably won’t enjoy working for us. So ask yourself, "Am I an optimist or pessimist? Do I laugh in the office? Am I prepared to work for Melbourne Cares, doing volunteer work in the community? Am I serious about doing things differently in order to reduce my environmental impact? Is work a necessary evil, or a positive part of my life experience? Do I care about the wellbeing of my colleagues? Do I tell it like it is, without the spin?”. These questions come out of behaviours that have been observed in our office, not a meaningless aspirational statement. The ability to play foosball on a Friday afternoon will also hold you in good stead for the role.

This is an exceptional opportunity to make your mark in one Australia’s most successful organisational survey companies.
