Ruby on Rails Developer
Contract and / or Full-time positions available
CarePages (an established purpose-driven social network) headquartered in Chicago, IL has openings – both contract and permanent – for Ruby on Rails developers. We’re looking for people who know what it takes to develop effective M and C layers in the MVC model. Come join an exciting team as we continue to build this successful company.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or 3-5 years experience relating to web-based software development using PHP, Python, Ruby, or Perl. Other languages a plus (eg Java).
- Minimum of 5 years experience developing, testing, deploying and maintaining open source interactive web applications.
- Minimum of 5 years experience with any SQL-based database development (MySQL or Oracle experience especially).
- Real-world experience with Agile engineering practices (test-driven development, object-oriented design, refactoring) and project management practices (Scrum teamwork, User Story development and estimation).
- Thorough understanding of common web and e-commerce concepts and technologies, such as: HTTP, SSL, JavaScript and variants, HTML and other client-side data formats (no graphic design skills required).
- Knowledge of OO design patterns, refactoring and unit testing
- Ability to work collaborative, in a team environment and independently.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Actual experience on a ROR project (preferably B2C)
- Entrepreneurial spirit
- Interest in open-source and advanced Internet technologies
- Experience with large volume, public-facing web sites preferred
