Design, implement, and maintain new and existing high-visibility, high-traffic web applications in a predominantly Linux/Perl/SQL environment. Provide occasional maintenance of Capwiz·XC programs and systems, including bug fixes and product upgrades. Apply knowledge of programming techniques and Capwiz·XC application to user requests of computer system objectives.
Responsibilities:
Develops web-based applications using Catalyst web development framework and Mod-Perl programming language.
Works with product design staff to develop application flow charts and other application requirements.
Reviews the layout and usability of all Capwiz·XC web-based applications for efficient implementation of HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
Works on engineering team to develop efficient production processes and application best practices.
Reviews client requests and suggestions for possible incorporation in Capwiz·XC application.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, including at least 3 years experience in web development and systems maintenance.
Thorough knowledge of programming principles and extensive experience with Perl or similar programming language.
Thorough understanding of HTML, CSS, DHTML and other web-based design techniques required.
Strong knowledge and experience with SQL. Experience with Oracle or other RDMS preferred.
Familiarity with Linux operating system and familiarity with Apache web server configuration preferred.
Experience with Mod-Perl, Fast CGI, Catalyst, PHP, ASP or other web development frameworks helpful.
Detail oriented. Strong organizational and time management skills.
Familiarity with Photoshop or other graphics software.
Experience with Flash or other multimedia tools helpful.
Bonus:
Experience developing in a Model-view-controller (MVC) programming environment with Catalyst or Ruby on Rails
