Multimedia Art Director (Jr.) / Flash Developer
Position Summary:
We’re looking for a flash designer/developer, for an Armed Services Account, that has the capability to bridge the gap between interaction design and back-end programming, and act as an interface between the teams. You should have the ability to think fluidly, creating solutions that push interactivity all the way from rich OLM to RIAs, sometimes in the same project. You’ll need to work as part of a rockstar team, learning and taking direction from your senior peers (looking for opportunities to expand your knowledge on a daily basis). You need to think fast on your feet, and not accept the project that was given to you without seeking to make it better.
Primary Skills:
• 2-5 years of Flash / ActionScript
• Ability to design rich media and websites to usability standards and best practices (while maintaining a strong look and feel)
Bonus Skills:
• AfterEffects and Streaming Server Integration with FLV
• Experience with Rich Media platforms (Pointroll, eyeBlaster)
• Other scripting knowledge: Java(Script), ASP, PHP, Ruby, XSL (Note: you will not be expected to code in these, but it’s a strong benefit if you can talk to them in regards to flash integration)
• Illustration (hand-drawn and digital)
• Motion Graphics
• Accessibility / 508 Compliance in Flash
• AS 2.0: Object Oriented Programming, Classes, Video
• Dynamic Data Integration: Databases (mySQL), XML/RSS, etc
• Experience with AS 3.0
• Flex 2.0/3.0
• Papervision3d
• Basic 3D modeling knowledge
• Programming for Mobile Devices
• Familiarity with Version Control Software (CVS, subVersion, etc)
• Presentation skills – the ability to convey your thoughts and ideas to various teams (account, creative, engineering, client, etc.)
• Experience concepting and designing for social media platforms (MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, Ning, etc.)
• Appreciation of Charlie the Unicorn (see YouTube)
What to bring to your interview:
• Anything that shows of your skills, and ability to think things through (web designs, banners, games, wireframes, FLAs to show coding samples, print designs, chicken-scratched ideas that never seen the light of day, etc.)
• We are aware that often the final end product is watered down due to legal, client mandates, etc. – so feel free to bring first versions of your designs, or personal pieces that best represent your original vision.
• Be prepared to talk to why you approached things the way you did.
• Looking forward to meeting you.
