Boston Apparel Group is home to Chadwick’s, metro style, Closeout Catalog Outlet and two retail Outlet stores in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. We are Massachusetts based catalog and e-commerce fashion company with locations in West Bridgewater and Taunton. West Bridgewater is home to our Corporate Offices and Warehouse site. Taunton is home to our Distribution and Contact Center.

Position Summary:

The Web Designer is responsible for the concept, creation, development and design of web promotions/campaigns for an assigned brand(s). These include emails, landing pages, home page refreshes, virtual catalogs and other promotional materials utilizing a Macintosh-based desktop publishing system. The timely upkeep includes, but is not limited to, updating the website and web promotions in a timely fashion with market reactions such as fashion news/trends. Excellent design skills with strong usage of type, and the ability to be a leader as well as part of a team. Ability to meet deadlines, communicate effectively and manage many projects at a time is a must. Must be able to design based on a solid knowledge of the branding requirements/standards for brand(s) assigned by manager.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Concept, create, develop, design and produce web promotions using graphics design software (QuarkXpress, InDesign, Dreamweaver, PhotoShop, Illustrator, etc.) on a Mac-based computer system.

2. Attend brand meetings to ensure creative elements are in line with brand requirements and brainstorming creative concepts with an eye on the feasibility of requests from a design perspective.

3. Attend internal hand-off meetings with departmental groups to ensure timely approval process.

4. Independently or in conjunction with Creative Director or Art Director, interprets creative “look” of each promotion and builds/develops layouts of those materials assigned.

5. Provides creative direction and guidance to image processors.

6. Ensures all work, both creative and technical, are reviewed for accuracy before deployment.

7. Deploy site designs/redesigns and works with outside vendors to ensure redesign launches are on a timely basis.

8. Work with at least one desktop publishing/imaging application in each of the following categories:

a. Photo Editing (Adobe Photoshop)

b. Drawing (Adobe Illustrator)

c. Page Layout (QuarkXpress, Adobe InDesign)

d. Multimedia (Macromedia Director, Flash, streaming audio and video)

e. Others (Adobe Distiller/Exchange, GifBuilder, GifConverter, 3ds Max, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree (in design field a plus) and pevious Fashion experience a plus.

· 2+ years experience in art direction (or being mentored by an art director) and (web) design. Very strong organization skills a must. Attention to detail a must. Ability to multi-task and prioritize a must.

· Strong creative skills in layout, typography, shape and color work a must. The ability to conceptualize several creative comps for presentation also a must.

· In-depth knowledge of one or more current web markup or scripting languages: HTML, XHTML, CSS, Javascript..

· Experience with managing website content.

· Strong background with one of the following operating systems and familiarity with the others: Mac, Windows (ME/2000/XP), UNIX (Linux).

· Direct-mail marketing knowledge a plus.

· Working knowledge of networking technologies, including security and encryption on the internet, and basic networking concepts is a plus.
