POSITION OVERVIEW
Boathouse is looking for a talented Interactive Developer with at least 5 years of experience creating Web-based applications and software.
Job Responsibilities
- Work from prototype to finish on a wide range of interactive applications including:
* Web properties (public sites, intranets, extranets, microsites, portals/communities, etc.)
* Mobile (sites, applications, etc.)
* Interface/Flash (data-driven tools, user/data-capturing tools, widgets, desktop software, etc.)
* Marketing/advertising (online ads, emails/newsletters, etc.)
* Content (video/audio, dynamic, etc.)
* Other interactive media-based solutions (kiosks, digital billboards, etc.) - Develop clean, well-documented code for both visual and data-driven applications
- Maintain organization over personal development resources, visual data, samples, standards, manuals, etc.
- Commit to constantly improving one’s skills and staying current of developments and trends in the industry
- Actively share knowledge with team members and across the company
QUALIFICATIONS
Technical Experience
- 5+ years experience and expert knowledge of Web-focused application development, covering HTML, AJAX (Advanced DOM and XML), CSS, JavaScript, and cross-browser coding requirements through designing and developing the underlying databases
- Strong understanding of development frameworks and object-oriented software production, including 2+ years hands-on experience with PHP and/or Ruby frameworks acting as a technical lead/architect for Web-based solutions
- 5+ years experience designing and developing database-driven applications
- Open-source competency, CMS knowledge, Web/application server administration, and Flash/ActionScript experience are big pluses
- Emerging/new technology knowledge is a plus, including OpenSocial, Facebook Platform, Adobe AIR, Flex 3, Silverlight, iPhone SDK, etc.
Consulting and/or Agency Experience
- Client services agency experience is a plus but not required
- Membership within local interactive organizations/groups is a plus (e.g., BIMA, Web Innovators Group)
Software/Programs
- Macromedia Dreamweaver, Microsoft Visual Studio or similar (hand-coding)
- Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, ImageReady/Fireworks, and Illustrator) or similar
- Macromedia Flash MX or later
- Knowledge of Flex, AIR, and Silverlight
- Microsoft Office Professional (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), Apple iLife, or similar
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a computer science focus
- Additional coursework and certificate programs preferred
