Designy Nerds or Nerdy Designers for Agile Team
We are a Chicago company that makes web-based software applications for hedge funds and people that invest in them. We take an Agile approach to software development, embrace open-source solutions, and work with the latest technology whenever we can. Over the last few years, we have grown to serve a hundred-something clients, won several awards, and built a lot of great software. We take our customers and our service very seriously, and ourselves not seriously at all.
We are looking to add a Designer to our development team. You will be responsible for designing and helping to implement new features on our existing web-based application and to help create new applications from scratch. You will work directly with our Hedge Fund clients to translate their complex needs.
Your work must convey complex information with style; you must be Tufte and Nielsen.
REQUIRED
- Knowledge of user-centered web design principles
- Strong graphic design skill set, including typography, color and composition
- An ability to quickly learn complex subject matter
- Proficient in standard graphics and page layout applications
- Proficient in standards-compliant HTML and CSS
- Ability to work directly with clients to meet design objectives
WILL LEARN
- Basic finance and accounting concepts
- Basic JSP and Java skills
HIGHLIGHT YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH
- Data visualization, or chart/graph design
- Financial concepts and or Financial Services companies
- Dynamic web site design, including any publicly available samples if practicable
- JavaScript or other programming languages
