We are seeking an entrepreneurial Technical Architect to join our rapidly growing Technology team.
The Technical Architect is responsible for scoping, architecting and leading technology teams in the delivery of challenging technical solutions for clients in various industries. A critical activity for the architect is to provide technical guidance and consulting to clients, to help them understand key technology tradeoffs and make informed decisions. The architect is expected to collaborate easily and effectively with creative and experience design team leads to ensure a successful technology designs and implementations of solutions for clients.
Core Duties/Responsibilities
• Responsible for translating business and functional requirements (business process models and use cases) into detailed technical design from system architecture down to code-level design.
• Lead mid to large size project teams through full lifecycle including requirements gathering, technical assessments, package evaluation, technical design, development, knowledge transfer, launch and support.
• Identify the hardware and software components an application will use for implementation and provide guidance on how to appropriately implement application components.
• Provide expert knowledge of application and system architecture at all levels. Provide guidance throughout the development process to ensure code is developed to specification.
• Prepare application and system architecture deliverables in accordance with standards and methodologies consistent with the target business architecture.
• Resolve and work on issues across multiple functional areas. Effectively monitor and take action to ensure coordination and effectiveness of all components and activities and decide on issues requiring escalation.
• Serve as technical Subject Matter Expert to Clients, Avenue A | Razorfish Management and Technology teams on relevant technologies, methodologies, standards and tools.
• Facilitate an on-going technical workgroup meeting for all technical project participants. Research new products and technologies to determine fit with the overall application architecture.
• Contribute to the firm’s growth by participating in recruiting, business development activities and meetings and/or colleagues performance management.
Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience
• 5 to 10 years of experience with a broad range of technologies, such as Java/J2EE, .Net, Object Oriented Design and Development, multi-tier system architecture, Web Services and XML
• Deep experience with architecting and building large-scale web based systems, including transactional systems, content management systems or portals, using technologies such as web services, J2EE, .NET and XML.
• Must be well versed with design patterns, integration patterns, enterprise design patterns and capacity planning
• Engagement experience should include IT Strategy initiatives, web application design and development, and leveraging overall technical architecture knowledge across multiple industries
• Strong business development experience (responses to RFPs, scoping, presentation skills)
• 3 plus years of design methodology experience (OOA/OOD/OOP, RUP or UML)
• Experience with commercial software products such as Content Management Systems (Interwoven, Documentum) and/or Portal Software (Plumtree, IBM’s Websphere Portal)
• Must have experience with performance tuning in the J2EE or Microsoft space
• Client consulting skills including presentation, documentation and writing
• Demonstrated knowledge of project planning, staffing, and estimating in an iterative software development process
• Able to document employee performance and personal development plans in an efficient and effective manner
• A B.S. or M.S in Computer Science or a related degree
