Xobni is fixing the email inbox — and that’s just the beginning. Today we offer Outlook users a sidebar that PC World called "a must-have for anyone who lives in Outlook". Our technology and platform is mostly data source agnostic, with the ability to expand to a number of email systems and to other types of data. Our code collects, stores, and analyzes thousands of email messages and other data to give our users instant access to the people, conversations, attachments, phone numbers and social connections in their inbox. We ship a new version of our software every four to six weeks.
Xobni was born in a dorm room at MIT from founders Adam Smith and Matt Brezina and now has 16 employees in San Francisco including Jeff Bonforte who joined as CEO. We secured over M in funding from investors such as Baseline (Ron Conway and Steve Anderson), First Round Capital (Rob Hayes and Josh Kopelman), Khosla Ventures (Vinod Khosla and David Weiden) and Niklas Zennstrom. Collectively, Xobni’s investors have been early investors or founders of Google, Skype, Facebook and Sun, playing critical roles in ten B plus startups.
Our first product launched publicly on May 5th, 2008 to widespread coverage by the New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, PC Magazine, Wired, CNet, etc. Note the Outlook market alone is 400 million users — this is a big market — and billion dollar successes such as WebEx and eFax / J2 show the ability to monetize premium communication services.
If you are going to pour yourself to a startup, shouldn’t it be one tackling a massive problem, with an equally large upside?
