The Company:
Energyhelpline.com and firsthelpline.com are major internet price comparison services. They enable consumers and businesses to switch energy, telecoms and broadband providers to save money.
We also have a commitment to corporate responsibility, with a charity-funding switching site at switchandgive.com and a carbon reduction comparison site at greenhelpline.com.
We are looking for highly motivated people who want to work in a results-driven environment. Prospects for promotion and increases in responsibility are great for very able individuals.
The Role:
We need an experienced developer to complement a small team building and maintaining our in-house web applications. The environment is energetic and informal, but we care about quality. The core development technologies are Microsoft, although we’re not shy about using OSS tools when they work better for us. You will have frequent contact with clients, a varied and challenging schedule, and both greenfield and legacy work.
The Candidate:
Essential: 3-5 years experience with Microsoft web development technologies. Decent awareness of HTML and web standards issues.
Preferable: TDD experience; NUnit, Subversion, Subsonic, NHibernate, CruiseControl
We prefer someone who
- has a strong interest in professional development;
- builds systems to last;
- won’t compromise quality by taking short cuts;
- will want to make their mark on a growing department.
Location:
Borough, 5-10 mins walk from London Bridge or Borough underground stations
Job Type:
Permanent
Salary:
35-45K depending on experience
Joel Test Addendum
Continuous integration not daily builds; candidates write code before an interview; sometimes the best tools are FOSS.
