Application Engineer, Integrations Developer at The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (Seattle, WA 98102)

Foundation Information Technology (IT) is responsible for evolving and executing the foundation’s strategy for information technology systems in accordance with the organization’s business requirements. This includes planning, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating cost-efficient enterprise systems that support both distributed and centralized grant management and business operations. IT also supports foundation programs directly, consulting on the execution of grants that include IT components.
The primary responsibility of this application engineer is to serve as a technology resource on complex, web-based technology projects requiring the integration of custom and packaged software solutions. This individual will design, develop and support enterprise class applications utilizing Microsoft technologies.

• Develop and implement complex and secure middle-tier web application and Web Service solutions
• Provide best-in-class expertise and mentoring in .Net, ASP.Net, C#, Web Services, and Windows Communication Framework (WCF)
• Develop and collaborate on architecture, code reviews, technology, standards and mentor other team members on their implementation
• Partner with Business Analysts and Project Mangers to distill business requirements into technical functional requirements

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent experience
• At least 5 years experience delivering enterprise class C#, .Net, ASP.Net and Web Service applications
• Established experience in the following areas:
o Implementing complex integration solutions between business systems
o Implementing secure coding practices
o End-to-end software development lifecycle
o Established experience with design patterns and code architecture
o Established experience with N-tier application architecture
o Internet applications and protocols, including HTTP, ASP.Net, and IIS
o Developing SharePoint 2007 API/Platform
o Microsoft Dynamics Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
o Microsoft WCF
o Microsoft Enterprise Library
o XML & XSLT
o CSS & HTML
