The American Society for Engineering Education is seeking a ruby on rails web developer to join our super-talented team. We create using Ruby on Rails, MySQL on Linux. Our solutions assist the young to become engineers and the elders to become better engineers. We change lives! Specifically, we are working on major cutting edge ruby on rails RESTful applications that communicate with one another. We would consider training the right candidate in ruby on rails!

Ruby on Rails Web Developer Responsibilities:
- Ruby on Rails coding
- Communication with customers and IT team
- Innovative thinking

Ruby on Rails Web Developer Key Requirements:
- 2+ years experience with Ruby on Rails
- 4+ years experience with SQL databases
- 4+ years experience developing web applications
- Experience with object-oriented development
- BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
Ruby on Rails Web Developer Key Skills and Experience:
- Experience with installing and using plugins/gems
- Experience with business objects or table-less model creation and usage
- Agile development
- Agile modeling
- Agile architecture
- REST, ROA, SOA
- MVC framework
- Full Lifecycle Software Development and Xtreme Programming
- Complex table joins, different table inheritance (and class inheritance)
- Development in Linux and Windows environments
- MySQL
- ERD Modeling, normalization
- UML such as Use Case and other artifacts
- Capistrano
- Strong problem solving ability
- Strong communication skills
ASEE is a non-profit organization which was founded in 1891. We use computer technology extensively to enable communication in all aspects of engineering education. We host our own web sites and databases on several in-house servers. We intend to continue to increase our use of the internet and the web and keep current with technology. We administer several fellowship programs for government agencies such as the NSF, Air Force, Navy and NASA. The working environment is casual. The location is very convenient to the Dupont Circle metro station.
