Ajax and GUI Developer - iVillage.com
Job Description QUALIFICATIONS:
* 5-8 experience programming; in-depth knowledge of JSP JavaScript, CSS, HTML, and XML; proficiency in at least one object-oriented or object-based programming language.
* 1-2+ years of AJAX development experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
iVillage.com is looking for an AJAX/GUI Developer.
This individual will report to the VP, Development for iVillage and as part of a larger team will:
Be responsible in facilitating development of projects across various sites within iVillage.
Be required to coordinate development efforts and communicating across groups, both within immediate team members and shared resources across NBC.
Be responsible for creating and supporting the Web-based application elements used in all pages and applications on various iVillage properties.
In order to be successful in this role, the applicant must understand the fundamentals of software development, including best practices, but also respect and excel in situations where the business is constantly pushing the technical envelope on innovation.
DESIRED:
* Computer Science degree
* Ability to communicate both in verbal and written forms.
* Ability to manage one’s time effectively to meet tight and high expectation deadlines.
* Advanced experience with CSS and HTML. The ability to create complex, table-less layouts implemented using CSS that work across browsers (IE 6+, Firefox 1.5+, and Safari 2+).
* Working knowledge of XML and XSLT a plus. Experience implementing elegant XSL template structures to render complex designs is a plus.
* Experience working in a project-driven web development environment
