Advantage Interactive Ltd, a leading Internet services company require a Development Manager to head up a small (currently 6 person) development team. The role comprises a mixture of hands-on development work and team leadership and reports directly to the Managing Director.
You will need to have experience of working as a developer using an Agile methodology. You will be comfortable with all aspects of a development role: from finding out sponsors’ requirements through to deploying working solutions in a production environment.
We primarily use Ruby on Rails. You will already have experience using this platform or will be bright enough to pick it up quickly.
You will already have leadership skills, ideally working as a development team leader at the moment. You will understand how to motivate and inspire people, how to prioritise work, how to liaise with other teams and third parties, and how to ensure that deadlines are met.
Experience of Scrum, XP, Linux, subversion, darcs, REST, LDAP, AJAX and PostgreSQL would all be advantageous.

Main Responsibilities
• Work closely with the Managing Director and other directors to prioritise work and make sure the development team are working to business requirements.
• Ensure that the development team consistently meet sprint deadlines.
• Ensure that delivered solutions are of an acceptable quality and that they meet the requirements of the business.
• Be hands-on in all phases of the development process.
• Motivate, mentor and inspire other developers.
• Work closely with operations (sysadmin), business development and support teams to ensure good inter-team relations.
